Who started the bout?
Both sides accuse each other of starting the NAIA airport rumble. Witnesses in favor of the two opposing sides surface to tell their own first hand detailed accounts of what transpired during that fateful hour. Varying ccounts of the event is of course understandable because of the high speed unfolding of the event.
But what is interestingly clear from a number of the witnesses is that Claudine is allegedly berating one of the ground crews of Cebu Pacific airline carrier after learning that some of thier baggages are among those offloaded by the airline carrier before its departure. Being upset is fine on this kind of situation, but shouting at an employee who obviously is not the one directly responsible for the offloading was totally uncalled for.
This scene created by Claudine called the attention of a veteran journalist who happened to be in the vicinity and who was also known as a defender of lowly individuals who are being abused. In the hopes of documenting the situation obviously for purposes of news reporting, Mon Tulfo started taking either pictures or video. Raymart upon noticing him immediately confronted Tulfo whom, according to him, he did not recognize as the notorious Mon Tulfo. Who threw the first punch? This is where the story became hazy. But what is certain is that Mr. Tulfo got seriously hurt. He sustained the most brutal of the punches thrown because apart from being outnumbered by the gang of Raymart, he was also the one being manhandled by the responding security guards of the airport, instead of the very aggressive and wild group of Raymart including his wife who was seen joining the group in hurting Tulfo.
Did Raymart really not recognize Mon Tulfo?
Well, it may be possible because had he known that it was Mr. Tulfo he might not have engaged him into a fistfight or at least he might not allowed the situation to extend into a full-blown fistfight. He has more to lose in this situation. Mon is a 2nd or 3rd dan black belt in aikido and he has also three equally martial arts experts brothers. Raymart was just lucky that he has his buddies with him and the airline security personnel who prevented Mon from fighting back.
